THE ZOO

The Zoo - fortunately a zoo nowadays is more to do with wildlife conservation of animals. Yet the word Zoo means an establishment which keeps animals for study, conservation, or display to the public. Animal conservation has come a long way, still plenty to do however.
A program the other night shown here in Australia Victoria filmed in Africa showed how baby orphaned elephants were being rescued and given the chance to survive. Great filming, very emotional. Elephants are a grand animal. Thats probably why I chose to draw a baby elephant with a young child. They both need care and nurturing. When next you find yourself observing an animal, ponder on "Who is looking at who?"

superstitious

Here is the superstitious black cat. Some people used to tell me it was bad luck and some would say it was good luck. I recall as a school girl always wanting to get a black cat to cross my path. I liked to think it was good luck and would call "puss puss" and the black cat would dutifully walk in front of me. Job done for a good day at school. My very first cat was a black cat, albeit for a little fleck of white under its chin and on his nose. I called him "Giz".
